Next short film 'Thank God for January Birthdays' is now in pre-production.

Updated: Jun 11

Our next short film, 'Thank God for January Birthdays' has entered into pre-production.

The romantic comedy, written by talented actress/writer Sasha van Diepen will be shot in East London and tells the story of a 20 something year old girl who's teetering on the edge of a quarter-life crisis.

Having resigned herself to spending her birthday alone in an empty cafe, with not even a slice of cake to cheer her up, her day goes from bad to worse when an awkward and overly cheerful barista requests that she put her laptop away, as he's trying to get people to "talk more".

With the realisation that she has no one to talk to on this of all days, the meltdown becomes unavoidable, and the indignity of a public breakdown is felt in full force.

However, when the unlikely duo strike up a connection, and find that really they have a lot in common, it could be that her luck is about to change, Perhaps Birthdays in January aren't that depressing after all? Or are they...

Written by Arts Ed graduate Sasha van Diepen, and directed by Nathan Hamilton, the film will be produced by Sasha and Bobbie Buckingham, and will feature Sasha and actor Henry Leroy Salta, a graduate of LAMDA in the lead roles.
